These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Brainably, an AI-powered homework help tool created and operated by a solo independent developer based in Texas. By accessing or using Brainably, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use this website.
Brainably is an independent, solo-created educational tool. It is not a school, tutoring company, or licensed educational institution. It is a free AI-assisted homework help resource available to anyone.
Brainably is available to:
• Students of any age using it to help understand homework and schoolwork
• Teachers using it as a classroom resource or demonstration tool
• Schools and districts evaluating or deploying it for educational use
• Parents using it alongside their children for learning support
Children under 13: Use of Brainably by children under 13 requires parental or guardian consent. By allowing a child under 13 to use Brainably, the parent or guardian agrees to these Terms on the child's behalf. Teachers deploying Brainably for students under 13 are responsible for obtaining any required parental consents under COPPA and applicable school policies.
Brainably uses artificial intelligence to generate explanations and answers. AI can and does make mistakes. You should be aware of the following:
• AI-generated answers may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information
• Brainably is a learning aid, not a replacement for a licensed teacher, tutor, or academic professional
• Always verify important answers with a teacher, textbook, or trusted source before relying on them
• Brainably should not be used as the sole source of information for tests, exams, or graded assignments
• The quality of AI answers depends on the model provided by OpenRouter, which may change over time
Brainably is designed to teach, not to do your work for you. Using Brainably to understand a concept is encouraged. Copying AI-generated answers and submitting them as your own original work to a teacher or institution — without disclosure — may violate your school's academic honesty policy. You are solely responsible for how you use Brainably in an academic context.
By using Brainably, you agree not to:
• Submit AI-generated answers as your own original work without disclosure
• Request harmful, illegal, violent, or inappropriate content from the AI
• Share your OpenRouter API key publicly or allow unauthorized use
• Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or disrupt the Brainably website
• Use Brainably for any commercial purpose without written permission
• Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person or institution
The Brainably name, logo, design, code, and content are owned by the creator. You may not copy, reproduce, redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from Brainably without explicit written permission. Personal, non-commercial educational use is permitted.
Brainably requires you to provide your own OpenRouter API key to use the AI features. You are responsible for your API key, including any costs or usage that occurs through it. Brainably is not responsible for any charges, overages, or issues related to your OpenRouter account. Review OpenRouter's own Terms of Service at openrouter.ai/terms.
If you are deploying Brainably for use by students in a school or district setting, you represent that you have the authority to agree to these Terms on behalf of your institution. You are responsible for ensuring appropriate use by students, obtaining required parental consents, and complying with applicable education laws including FERPA and COPPA.
Brainably is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. I do not warrant that Brainably will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or that AI answers will be accurate. Use Brainably at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the creator of Brainably shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — Brainably. This includes but is not limited to academic consequences, data loss, or reliance on AI-generated answers.
Brainably is currently free. Paid features may be introduced in the future. If and when that happens, updated Terms will be posted before any payment is required. Continued use of free features will always remain subject to these Terms.
I may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Brainably after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Texas.
If you have questions about these Terms, please reach out via the Brainably website.

This Privacy Policy describes how Brainably ("I", "me", or "my"), a solo-created educational tool, collects, uses, and protects information when you use this website. I take your privacy seriously — especially because students of all ages use this tool.
I collect almost nothing. Brainably does not require you to create an account, provide your name, or give an email address.
The only information that exists is what you choose to save in your own browser's localStorage — such as your grade level, language preference, school name, and question history. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to me or any server I control.
When you type a question and click "Explain it to me," that question is sent directly to OpenRouter using your own personal API key. I do not see, store, log, or have access to your questions. The question goes from your browser to OpenRouter — not through any server I own.
Brainably is designed to be safe for students of all ages. I do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since no account or personal details are required to use Brainably, no personal data from children is collected. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted personal information, please contact me so I can address it immediately.
Your OpenRouter API key is stored only in your browser's localStorage. It is never transmitted to me. It is sent directly to OpenRouter when you ask a question. You are responsible for keeping your API key private — do not share it with others.
Brainably uses the following third-party services:
• OpenRouter (openrouter.ai) — processes AI questions using your own API key. See their privacy policy at openrouter.ai/privacy.
• YouTube — video links are linked to youtube.com. Clicking them takes you to YouTube, which has its own privacy policy.
• Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from fonts.googleapis.com. Google may log this request per their privacy policy.
Brainably uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no third-party tracking scripts. See our Cookie Policy for full details.
Brainably is currently free. If paid features are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before any new data collection begins. You will always be informed before any changes affect your privacy.
Since I store nothing on my end, there is nothing for me to delete on my side. You can remove all locally stored data yourself at any time by clearing your browser's site data (see the Cookie Policy for instructions).
If you are in California, you may have additional rights under the CCPA. Since I collect no personal data, these rights are effectively already fulfilled.
If this Privacy Policy changes, I will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes — especially any that involve collecting personal data — I will make a clear notice on the homepage.
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, please reach out via the Brainably website.
